Higgs production

Web14 de jan. de 2024 · To experimentally constrain this shape we must measure the Higgs boson self-coupling, which is accessible at the LHC through the simultaneous production of two Higgs bosons. The selected student will join the Portuguese ATLAS team, working in close collaboration with theorists and integrated into our international collaboration. WebFigure 2 illustrates some of the possibilities of how the Higgs will interact with itself at the LHC. In these scenarios, two Higgs bosons would be produced at the same time. This would mean that the self-interaction can be estimated by measuring the rate of di-Higgs boson (HH) production. During the proton-proton collisions of the LHC, the HH ...

WebHiggs boson pair production is traditionally considered to be of particular interest for a measurement of the trilinear Higgs self-coupling. Yet it can offer insights into other couplings as well, since - in an effective field theory (EFT) parameterisation of potential new physics - both the production cross section and kinematical properties of the Higgs … WebHiggs production via gluon fusion at next-to-leading order Calculation notes Last modi˙ed November 22, 2013 Stefan Richter (University College London) [email protected] … Web20 de out. de 2024 · The CMS Collaboration finds evidence for the contribution from off-shell Higgs bosons to the production of events with two Z bosons. In this paper, we discuss the two-loop QCD radiative corrections of C'}(o4§) the properties and production mechanisms of the standard model Higgs boson unam unknown parameter is its mass. WebThe cause of the screening of the weak interactions at long distances puzzled the high-energy community for more nearly half a century. With the discovery of the Higgs boson a new era started with direct experimental information on the physics behind the breaking of the electroweak symmetry. This breaking plays a fundamental role in our understanding …

Web1 de jul. de 2024 · Higgs encounters Top: a candidate event recorded by ATLAS in 2024 for the associated production of a Higgs boson with a top quark pair, with the Higgs boson decaying to a photon pair. The event contains one electron candidate (green line) and two photon candidates (green towers) with a diphoton mass of 125.2 GeV. The most common expected processes for Higgs boson production are: Gluon fusion If the collided particles are hadrons such as the proton or antiproton – as is the case in the LHC and Tevatron – then it is most likely that two of the gluons binding the hadron together collide.
